Suspected armed robbers have shot dead an official of the Nigeria Customs Service at Seme Border Command, Lagos State.
The officer, whose name was given as Ishak Wakili, a Senior Inspector, reportedly fell to the bullets of robbers in his house at Ibereko, Badagry on Tuesday night.
Competent police sources said a nine-member armed gang invaded the house he was living in and held the occupants hostage.
The robbers tied the hands of the occupants, dispossessed them of their money and handsets, but the deceased allegedly refused to open his door to the `unwanted visitors.
When they eventually forced the door open, they shot the customs officer, leaving him in the pool of his blood, the source said.
Contacted, the Divisional Police Officer in Badagry, CSP Salihu Samuel confirmed the incident, adding, however, that no arrest had been made.
No arrest has been made in connection with the robbery which unfortunately claimed the life of a customs officer.
He said his men had begun a 24-hour patrol to rid the area of violent crimes.
Reports that the remains of the late Wakili had been taken to his town in Gombe State and buried according to Islamic rites.
