An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court has remanded three men in Ikoyi Prisons for allegedly robbing a man of his car at gun point.
The accused -- Idowu Abiodun (29), Saliu Musiliu (26) and Olusegun Oriogun (41) – are standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, robbery and receipt of stolen items.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Rachael Williams, told the court that the men conspired and trailed one David Adeniran at Oyetoro, Meiran, a Lagos suburb, and robbed the man of his Toyota Camry saloon car on June 17.
She said the accused stole two Nokia handsets valued at N73, 000 and N10,000 cash.
According to her, the third defendant, Oriogun, received the stolen items.
Williams said the offences contravened Sections 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State and Sections 1(2) (a) and 4 (a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Laws of the Federation.
Magistrate A.B. Olagbegi-Adelabu, directed that the defendant should be remanded in prison custody pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The case has been adjourned till Nov. 17 for mention.
