NDLEA nabs 7 in Lagos over 8.2 kg of narcotics.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Friday announced the arrest of seven suspected drug traffickers over 8.26 kg of narcotics allegedly concealed in their shoes. The spokesman of the agency, Mitchell Ofoyeju said the suspects were arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, on their way to Germany and London. He said the drugs seized included 5.9 kg of cocaine 2.1 kg of methamphetamine and 105 grams of cannabis. Ofoyeju said four of the suspects were facing capital punishment in Malaysia and Hong Kong before their escape from the countries. He promised that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded. The agency’s chairman, Ahmadu Giade called on the judiciary to ensure that drug suspects did not escape justice to serve as a deterrent to others. He said To save Nigeria from embarrassment in the international community and further loss of lives of Nigerians while being prosecuted in other countries, the judiciary should be strict in applying the laws on drug suspects.
