FRSC LAGOS SECTOR COMMANDER JONAS AGWU

Accident: FRSC to prosecute uncooperative hospital managers.

The Federal Road Safety Commission is to prosecute hospital managers in Lagos State who refuse to treat accident victims. State Sector Commander of the corps, Jonas Agwu was reacting to complaints by some road marshals in the state and other residents that some hospitals reject accident victims.

Agwu said the agency had overwhelming cases of frustration on officers of the corps in getting treatment for accident victims.

According to him, In some cases, personnels of the agency are requested to provide a police report before an accident victim is attended to.

Agwu said the law empowered the commission to prosecute erring hospital managers.

He said the command will invoke the power of the Commission as contained in its Act and the provision of the National Road Traffic Regulations, 2004 by prosecuting hospitals for rejecting accident victims.

Agwu warned that Any hospital, be it private or public, which rejects accident victims henceforth, will face the full wrath of the law.

The sector commander called for cooperation of Nigerians, especially health workers in saving lives.

He said the Commission had a duty to rescue accident victims, administer first aid to them and move them to hospital for proper treatment.
