Court dissolves 9-year-old marriage over lack of care - Monday, April 04, 2011 A Mushin Grade A Customary Court, Lagos, has dissolved the marriage between Munirat Shodunke and Gbolahan Shodunke over lack of care during pregnancy. Munirat of 24 Market Street, Mushin, had on Jan. 21 gone to court, to ask for the dissolution of her marriage. She accused her husband of lack of care before, during and after pregnancy. Munirat told the court that there was no longer love between her and Shodunke, who lives at No 29, Oloruntosin Street, Mushin. She said the marriage, which was contracted on Aug. 8, 2002, was blessed with a one and half- year-old child. The Court President, Abayomi Ipaye, said the dissolution became inevitable as all attempts to reconcile the estrange couple since the case came up for hearing on Feb. 11, had failed. He urged both parties to maintain the peace, while awarding the custody of the only child to the mother. Ipaye, however, ordered Shodunke to cater for the child’s needs. ............................................................
