Police, Boko Haram clash in kano.


Four suspected members of Boko Haram were killed in Kano State in bloody shootouts between the members of the sect and the police, while a total of 14 members arrested.
The sect killed four Police officers, while one officer was injured in the bloody operations that rocked the state in the past few days.

Police Commissioner, Ibrahim K. Idris has paraded four of the arrested suspects at the headquarters of the command.
Briefing the Press on the series of encounters with the sect, the Commissioner revealed that on December 14, “a team of detectives arrested one Abdullahi Ahmed of Hotoro Road Kano at a petrol filling station, Kofar Nassarawa with a stolen Honda Accord with Registration No. CP408”
He added that during investigation, they received a report from members of the community about suspected characters at Unguwar Dabai, Rijar Zaki quarters, Kano, while explaining that when the police moved into the area, “they arrested a suspect, Yinusa Ahmed.
He said that when the compound of the said suspect was searched, the police recovered bomb detonating explosives, wires, some chemicals, some audio cassettes of preaching of Mohammed Yusuf and some Arabic books:“ In one of the houses of his cohort, the following were recovered: one fabricated bomb casing, some sacks containing gun powder, two sacks of ammonium nyton use for making bombs, audio cassettes of Mohammed Yusuf, some liquid substance, and neutral wire.
He added that the suspect further led the team of detectives to the house of two of their leaders, Mohammed Shulurmi and Alhaji Kyari, adding that while Kyari was eventually arrested, Mohammed Shulurmi is at large.
He said that consequently, on December 16, the team raided the house of Alhaji Mohammed Shulurmi, adding that at his residence, they recovered one empty gas cylinder, 19 bags of ammonium chemicals used for bomb making, two cartons containing Arabic books, one bag of iron scrap for making bombs and one black polythene bag containing items for bomb making.
He said that the remaining items recovered in the house of the said suspect included 20 bags of substance for bomb-making all sealed, one international passport bearing Mohammed Usman, One Afri Bank cheque, two already constructed bombs, one 25 liters jerry can containing chemicals for bomb-making and two already assembled bombs.
He said that when the police searched the house of the arrested Alhaji Kyari, at Gwammaja quarters in the state, they equally recovered one live assembled bomb.
The Commissioner further disclosed in another development, the house of one Mohammed Aliyu (Alias Hamza) of Darmanawa quarters was placed under 24 hours surveillance.
He said that when the suspect noticed that he was under surveillance, he mobilized his men and attacked the policemen, killing one of the two officers.
He noted that they equally shot one of the officers attached to the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) who arrived timely for reinforcement while injuring another, adding that in return, four of the syndicate members were shot dead by the SARS.
