Benue CP warns politicians against violence.
Benue Commissioner of Police, John Haruna has warned politicians in the state against acts capable of breaching the peace.
Haruna handed down the warning in Makurdi while briefing newsmen on the activities of the command in combating crime in the state.
He warned that the police would deal decisively with any politician who engages in nefarious activities to promote selfish and divisive interest.
The commissioner said policemen had been deployed to identified flashpoints and on the highways to contain criminal activities and road accidents.
Haruna lamented that the state was almost ``being consumed in cultism and announced plans by security agencies to curtail the menace, including the perennial clashes between farmers and cattle rearers.
The commissioner urged the public to always volunteer useful information that would lead to the arrest of criminals and assured that the identity of such informants would not be revealed.
He further assured people of the state of adequate security during the yuletide, saying criminals would have no hiding place in the state.
``We will pursue them and arrest them even out of the state, there will be no hiding place for them, there is no going back until we get them all arrested,’’ he stressed.
