NDLEA uncovers narcotics warehouse in Kano
Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has uncovered a warehouse of cannabis sativa, where it seized a total of one point five tonnes of the narcotic weed otherwise known as Indian hemp.
Its Commander, Sumaila Ethan, said a nursing mother, Hassana Usman, was arrested during the operation that took place in Rijiyar Zaki area of the state capital.
According to him, intense investigation was in progress to unmask the kingpins behind the illicit trade in the area.
He equally revealed that in the last two months, the agency had arrested a total of 237 suspects and also seized two point two four one tonnes of hard drugs, comprising cannabis sativa, cocaine and heroine.
Ethan expressed that concern at the worsening scourge of hard drug consumption, which described as “grave and disturbing”, saying there is “urge need to turn the tide and beat back this menacing scourge through concerted action.”
Among the suspects paraded before the press for various offences were Hassana Usman, 23, who hails from Kano State; Abdullahi Abdurazak, 35, from Offa in Kwara State, Adeniyi Musa, 51, from Oye in Kogi State, Anthony Obi, 29, an indigene of Onitsha in Anambra State, Mohammed Sani, 45, who claimed to hail from Ikwo in Ebonyi State. and Aminu Ismail, 35, from Dawaki in Kano State.
