It was learnt that the late DPO attended a meeting at the Police Officers’ Mess, located along Forces Avenue, in the old Government Reservation Area (GRA), near Government House, Port Harcourt, on Sunday evening, where the issue of send-off for some police officers, especially the outgoing Rivers Commissioner of Police, Suleiman Abba, who was recently promoted as an Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) was discussed.
The DPO was said to be returning to his Port Harcourt residence after the crucial meeting when the vehicle swerved off the road and hit a tree, leading to his death.
