EFCC Storms Abeokuta, Interrogates Ex-Gov’s Allies
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, stormed Oke Ilewo office of the State Property Investment Corporation in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and quizzed the Managing Director, Kola Omobo.and other top management members of the state’s parastatal who had served with the last administration of former governor of the state, Gbenga Daniel.
The EFCC operatives arrived the Oke-Ilewo office, OPIC plaza in a Honda space bus with registration number Lagos DZ 706 GG and had been laying siege to the state allegedly looking into the books of the government agencies and parastatals.
During raid, the EFCC operatives arrived the Oke Ilewo office of the corporation and went straight into business, while some of its officers stayed at the entrance of office keeping tab on those that were coming in and going out of the office.
One of the bosses of the controversial Golf Resort Hotels, Chief Oluwole Olumide, who is a close ally of the former governor, was last week arrested and interrogated by the agency as part of its investigations into the alleged mismanagement during the tenure of Daniel between 29 May, 2003 and 29 May, 2011.
At the ongoing sitting of the Judicial Commission of Enquiry on Land Matters headed by Justice Abiodun Akinyemi in Ogun State, many management members of the corporation were indicted.
In the white paper released by the state government recently, the Commission indicted many officials of the corporation for the way they handled land matters during the administration of Gbenga Daniel.
