The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and witnesses have confirmed the death of six persons in two separate accidents in Katsina State on Wednesday.
Witnesses said five persons died while seven others were injured in an accident in Baure Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Also, an FRSC official said one person died in another accident in Mai’aduaLocal Government Area.
Witnesses said the Baureaccident, which occurred on Yanduna-Maibara road about 6.30p.m. on Tuesday, involved a Volkswagen station wagon car.
They said the vehicle, which was conveying 11 passengers from Dansadau in Zamfara to Unguwar Gamji in Baure, had a tyre burst, making the driver to lose control.
The witnesses said the vehicle somersaulted and as a result, five of the occupants died and seven others were injured.
The victims were taken to Baure General Hospital.
Sani Yanduna, the Baure Local Government Chairman, who visited the hospital to see the victims, said the council would pay the medical bills of the injured.
The unit commander of FRSCin Daura, Abdullahi Galadi, confirmed both incidents.
Galadi said “the Baure accident happened when we were on rescue operation for another accident that occurred 20 minutes earlier in Mai’adua Local Government Area in which one person died and six others injured.
