NSCDC arrests man for allegedly killing own mother.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)  on Wednesday  apprehended a 29-year-old man for allegedly killing his own mother.
The suspect had on Oct. 9, 2011  ambushed the victim  on her way to a farm in Ejiu-Aiyegunle in Ekiti Local Government Area of  Kwara and killed her.
The suspect had claimed that his mother was behind the misfortunes that had affected her children.
According to him, he had pushed the woman who was carrying palm wine from behind and hit her with a stick twice on the head before she fell.
He said he went to  solicit the assistance of  a cleric  who had advised him  to come with his  mother before any further prayers.
The suspect, an NCE holder  and father of a child, said he had not  secured employment since he graduated five years  ago, adding that he also lost his first child in a mysterious manner.
He claimed that  none of the victim’s eight children was making meaningful progress in life, adding that he and one of his brothers resolved to kill their mother in order to free themselves.
Confirming the incident, the state Commandant of the NSCDC, AlHassan Akor,  said his men arrested the suspect in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government,  on Monday following  a tip off.
The suspect, he said,  had confessed that he committed the offence and decided to surrender himself because he was now a born again Christian.
 The commandant appealed to members of the public to always provide useful information that could  lead to the arrest of criminals.
 Akor said the suspect would be arraigned before a court, adding that  the corps was making efforts to arrest the other suspect.
The wife of the suspect gave birth to a baby boy just a day after the alleged killing of the mother.
