CUSTOM BOSS

Customs bans handbags in offices.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has banned its female employees from bringing handbags to the office.
An undated circular posted at the entrance of the Customs headquarters in Zone 3, Wuse, Abuja, directed all officers to comply with the directive immediately.
The circular also prohibits laptop bags from being taken into the building.
Visitors as well as members of staff are expected to remove their laptops from their bags before going into the building.
The circular did not give any reasons for the directive.
However, some officers, said it was part of new security regulations following recent bomb attacks in Abuja.
Visitors and even employees coming into the Customs headquarters should expect enhanced security screening.
Another circular posted at the entrance of the Customs headquarters directed all officers from other stations visiting the headquarters to be with the proper tags and identification.
It also directed all off-duty officers visiting the headquarters to be fully-dressed in their uniform.
A group known as the Boko Haram, claimed responsibility for the April 26 suicide bomb attack on ThisDay newspaper building in Utako District of Abuja, in which three people were killed.
The group had earlier claimed responsibility for the bomb attack on the UN building in Abuja on Aug. 26, 2011 as well as the police headquarters in Abuja on June 16, 2011.
