IG solicits public support for police.

The Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, on Thursday urged  the public  to complement the efforts of the Force  in fighting crime.
Abubakar made the plea  while addressing a cross section of  residents  at the conference hall of the Oyo State Police Command in Ibadan.
While admitting that the police had some bad eggs, he  urged residents  to report such corrupt officers using his direct  telephone numbers and email addresses which he made public.
Abubakar, who  warned that officers caught in acts of  corruption would be  charged to court, said  the era of harassing  and molesting innocent people was over.
"Using the police to settle land matters must end. Henceforth, officers should not attend to such and they should let complainants go to court," he said.
He, however, said  officers would now be well kitted  while  vehicles would be bought for effective operations.
Top serving and retired  police officers, leaders  of religious  organisations and members of the business community were in attendance.
