Insecurity: Police redeploy 137 offi cers

As part of efforts towards ensuring safety of lives and property against the back-drop of increasing rate of crimes in the country, the Acting Inspector General of Police IGP, Mohammed Abubakar, has approved the posting and redeploy-ment of about 137 police officers.
The posting and rede-ployment came barely few hours after the Police Ser-vice Commission reported-ly directed the compulsory retirement of 14 Assistant Inspectors General of Po-lice AIGs.
The officers affected by the new developments are between the ranks of As-sistant Commissioners of Police and Chief Superin-tendents of Police.
Deputy Force Public Re-lations Officer, Frank Mba, said the move is part of the renewed efforts of Mr. Abubakar to reposition the Force for greater efficiency, especially in the light of growing wave of violent crimes and terrorism in some parts of the country.
“As part of on-going ef-forts aimed at restructur-ing the Nigeria Police Force and repositioning it for greater efficiency, the Act-ing Inspector-General of Police, IGP, MD Abubakar, NPM, mni has approved the posting and redeploy-ment of 67 Assistant Com-missioners of Police and 70 Chief Superintendents of Police”, Mba stated.
Among the Assistant Commissioners of Police are Okoli C. Michael who is now the Area Command-er for Ahaoda  and Mr. Nkereuwem A. Akpan, now  AC Liberal Studies at the Police Staff College, Jos.
