Association of Industrial Security and Safety Operators of Nigeria, has described the multiple terrorist attacks on the Catholic Church at Bayero University Kano which killed 2 professors, and thirteen others as an unfortunate and unacceptable carnage which was preventable.
Its President, Ona Ekhomu indicted campus security officials for not being proactive, as the terrorist attack was foreseeable and preventable.
Sympathizing with victims and survivors of the vicious terrorist attacks, Ekhomu said campus security officials were remiss in protecting the campus population.
He said the BUK attacks highlights the need to appoint knowledgeable, credentialed and passionate persons to sensitive security positions.
The security expert said the current practice of appointing any retired military or police personnel to head security departments in universities is counter-productive as the terrorist threat is now real and real knowledge skills and abilities were required to keep people safe.
Ekhomu called on university administrators to ensure that their chief security officers had attained the certified protection officer or certified protection professional as a minimum.
In order to deal with cutting edge issues, you must head-hunt persons who have the requisite knowledge to perform.
You may hire an ex-military or ex-police personnel, but ensure that they are CPO or CPP so that you are assured that aside from the national service experience, the  persons are seised with complex knowledge for  problem solving in these precarious times"
According to the internationally renowned security expert,” schools and places of worship have become favorite targets for the Bokites.
The primary reason being there will be a rich harvest of deaths.” The security expert advised that with the increase in the spate of terrorist attacks by the dreaded Boko Haram group, schools and places of worship throughout Nigeria should be on high alert.
According to him, "It's better to be safe and secured than sorry".
He called for greater security awareness among the population of schools and worship centers.

He said everyone must be enrolled in security consciousness and awareness.
