Fashola inaugurates Lagos Youth Parliament.

Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola on Wednesday called on youths to see themselves as agents of change rather than weapons for perpetrating violence in the society.

Inaugurating the Lagos State Youth Parliament at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikeja, Fashola urged the youths to see their participation in local and national politics not only as a right but a responsibility in the democratic set up.

Represented by Dolapo Badru, his Special Adviser on Youths and Social Development, Fashola said the youths should play key roles in the design, implementation and evaluation of policies that affect them.

He assured that the state government would provide opportunities for youths to attain their goals and bring out moral values, good character and leadership qualities in them.

The youth parliament was designed to acquaint youths with legislative duties.

Highlight of the event was the election of Gafar Mustapha as the speaker of the youth parliament.

Others who emerged were Adebiyi Olusola Deputy Speaker, Osifowora Kayode Majority Leader while Mary Balogun emerged the Deputy Majority Leader.
