Nigerian artistes ushering in 2011 with prayers against sudden deaths.

Worried by the number of members who died during the year, Nigerian artistes have converged on Lagos to offer prayers against further sudden deaths.

The artistes also seized the opportunity of the occasion to invite medical experts to examine members and give health talks.

Mufu Onifade, who is Chairman, Lagos Chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners said the doctors advised the artistes on how to handle health problems.

The NANTAP chairman spoke at the end of a party held at the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.

Onifade said that cases which could not be analysed by the experts were referred to the General Hospital for further investigation.

He advised artistes to make healthcare their priority as precautionary steps become necessary because of their hyperactive work.

He also called on NANTAP members to live together as one family.

The Chairman, Dance Guild of Nigeria , Lagos State, Isioma Williams, also told the artistes that health was vital if they must make progress in their careers.

According to him, the work of an artiste is very strenuous and medical checks go a long way to curb sudden death.
