Men of God' jailed for cheating.

An Abuja Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, sentenced three men to two months imprisonment each without an option of fine for joint act and attempting to cheat.

The convicts, Anayo Okafor, Sunday Okonkwo all of Nyanya, Abuja, and Barry Nwosu of Kaduna, were reported to have formed a common intention among themselves to commit the offences.

The Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Emmanuel Adikwu, told the court that the trio, who introduced themselves to one Bridget Egbe, the complainant on Dec. 16 as `men of God', attempted to collect her money and the recharge cards she was selling, when they were arrested by the police.
He said during investigation the convicts confessed to committing the offences ``which are punishable under Sections 79 and 95 of the Penal Code’’.

However, when the charges were read to the convicts, they pleaded guilty and begged for leniency.

Magistrate Shaffa Aliyu sentenced them to two months imprisonment each without an option of fine.
