As part of measures to ensure hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 20,000 personnel to strategic points in the country.
Corps Commandant-General, Ade Abolurin directed all the state commands to deploy their personnel effectively to cover every nook and cranny to prevent and nip in the bud situations that could lead to insecurity.
Abolurin called on all Nigerians to be good ambassadors wherever they found themselves, saying,this is the time when hoodlums perpetrate their nefarious acts such as vandalising public infrastructure and engaging in other vices.
He congratulated President GoodLuck Jonathan for his official celebration of Christmas as the President of the nation and urged all Nigerians to use the period to seek for God’s face and pray for His intervention in the 2011 elections.
He advising the corps personnel to be security conscious and desist from participating in any form of political activity but go about their lawful duties without any fear.
He enjoined all Christians to abide by the teachings of the Holy Bible adding that, Christmas was not just a season for celebration and merry making but a time to reflect on the significance and importance of the birth of Christ.
