Man in court for causing the death of a peacemaker.

A man who allegedly caused the death of a co-tenant who tried to settle a quarrel between him and his wife, was on Tuesday arraigned in Lagos.

Shakiru Muyiwa, 35, was arraigned before Magistrate Salama Matepo of the Yaba Magistrate’s Court for allegedly causing the death of Friday Okorie, the peacemaker.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Benson Emuerhi, told the court that Muyiwa committed the offence on June 15, at 2 Anuoluwapo Close, Aboru, Ipaja, Lagos.

The accused is facing a one-count charge of unlawfully causing the death of Okorie.

Essien Okorie, an elder brother of the deceased, reported the case to the police.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Matepo granted him N50,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till Dec.13 for further hearing.
