For allegedly stealing a 17.5 KVA generator belonging to MTN Nigeria, four men were on Wednesday arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court.
The accused, Tobias Tobechukwu, 25, Tajudeen Durojaiye, 27, Yusuf Ogundeji, 27, and Loveday Dickson, are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and impersonation before Chief Magistrate D.T. Olatokun.
The prosecutor, DSP Aruna Ebhodaghe, told the court that the defendants conspired and carted away a 17.5 KVA Jubani generator belonging to MTN Nigeria.
He stated the first defendant, Tobechukwu, disguised by putting on a Murapco Company overall, which gave him access to the MTN site to remove the said generator.
The prosecutor said Tobechukwu maliciously damaged the cable of the generator valued at N1.5 million.
Ebhodaghe said the offence was committed on July 21 at site T059, Daranje Str., Ogba in Ikeja.
He said the offence was contrary to and punishable under Sections 516, 390 (9), 451 and 108 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos state.
All the four accused men pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In her ruling, Magistrate Olatokun granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each.
She adjourned the case till Sept. 8, for mention.
