He is owing me N300,000 and I will not leave his house unless he pays the money,a defiant housewife,Selimot Mustapha, told a Mushin Grade A Customary Court in Lagos.
Selimot, who was dragged to the court by her husband,Dauda Mustapha, said she had no objection to the dissolution of their one-year-old marriage, as long as he first pay back the money.
Court President,Abayomi Ipaye, referred Selimot to the High Court for adjudication on the N300,000 debt.
He, however, dissolved the marriage on the grounds that it had broken down irretrievably.
Mustapha, 66, had on June 15 filed a suit seeking the dissolution of the union on the grounds that Selimot, 34, was unfaithful.
Ipaye said the consent of the wife to the dissolution of the marriage showed that there was no love lost between them.
The court has no option than to dissolve the union as the couple has lost interest in the relationship.
Henceforth, the couple is free to go their separate ways without any molestation or threat, the president said.
Earlier, Mustapha, a retired civil servant, had alleged that his estranged wife had relationship with several men.
She goes out with several men and since the marriage has no issue, she has been disrespecting me as her husband.
In her reply, Selimot accused her husband of failing to take care of her.
He has not been taking care of me, hence my consenting to the dissolution of the marriage.
