Police Corporal in custody for defiling girl, 15.

The Kwara State Police Command has interrogated a Police Corporal for allegedly, defiling a 15-year-old girl.

The Command's Public Relations Officer, Ezekiel Dabo, made this known while addressing newsmen in Ilorin.

Dabo said the victim went to report a matter at the Tanke Police Station where he met the suspect on the counter.

He said the suspect who was attached to ‘F’ Division of the command in Tanke, Ilorin, had been arrested for further interrogation.

Ezekiel said on July 29, the victim of No. 7, Owaonire Street, Fate, Ilorin, came to Tanke Police Station and reported a case of theft of handset.

He said when the case was brought to the station by the complainant, the suspect who was then on duty as the Station Guard intercepted her.

On the same day, the brother of the victim returned to the station to report that his younger sister was allegedly raped by a policeman in an uncompleted building where the suspect had gone to recover the stolen handset.

Meanwhile, Dabo also said the command had arrested an undergraduate for allegedly attempting to defraud a bank of $,1991.34 in Ilorin.

The suspect, who is a 300 level student in the Department of Agriculture of the University of Ilorin was said to have been intercepted in the banking hall of United Bank for Africa Plc, UNILORIN Branch by a Cashier of the bank.

He said the suspect was arrested while attempting to withdraw the $1991.34 from the bank with a filled Western Union Money Transfer slip and a forged identity card, bearing another person’s name and photograph.

The police spokesman said the suspect on interrogation confessed to have committed the crime and that he had given useful information to the police.

Dabo said the suspect would soon be charged to court after investigation.
