Officers Corps, Nigeria Army, have called on the authorities to ensure the sustenance of the ongoing reforms and professionalism in the service.
The call was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the 2010 second Commanding Officers workshop held from Aug. 2- to Aug. 6 in Lagos.
The 60 officers, drawn from Army formations in the Southern part of the country participated in the workshop.
The officers, who lauded the reforms, noted that they had started yielding positive results.
The participants promised to justify the drive toward professionalism through improved productivity.
The ongoing transformation process should be sustained, irrespective of a change of Army leadership or style of administration.
Meanwhile, the officers have lauded the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau for organizing the workshop which they described as timely and relevant.
The officers, said the workshop had further sharpened their skills.
Lt.-Col. Bulama Biu, the Commanding Officer, 65 Battalion, Lagos, said the interactive session had exposed him to new ideas in the performance of his duties.
Also, the Commanding Officer, 353 Artillery Regiment, Abeokuta, Ogun, Lt-Col. Hillary Aduku described Army’s professionalism as innovative.
Lt-Col. Philip Eromosele of 24 Support Engineering Regiment, Abakaliki, said the platform had provided a unique opportunity for officers to interact, identify operational challenges and proffer solutions to them.
The commanding officers’ workshop for the Northern zone was held in May in Kaduna.
