Army trains officers on peacekeeping missions.

The Nigerian Army has evolved a high standard of training for its support operations personnel involved in peacekeeping missions.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt.- Gen. Abdulrahaman Dambazau, spoke at the graduation of the Logistic Staff Course 7 of the Nigerian Army held in Lagos, saying the training was a deliberate policy to address the lapses discovered during peacekeeping operations.

Dambazau said It is important to pursue the training of officers to meet contemporary challenges in the conduct of military operations, especially against the backdrop of technological advancement.

Represented by Maj.-Gen. Godwin Umo, Commander, Signals Corps, said officers needed to develop proficiency in the application of logistics to effectively support troops in the field.

He said It, therefore, behoves on the Army to train its officers on modern concepts and techniques in logistics which would enable them to acquire the requisite skills for sound logistics support.

Dambazau urged the graduates to be prudent in the management of their assets through effective utilisation of available resources.

The 17 officers out of the 19 course participants graduated comprising 15 army officers, one naval officer and one from the air force officer.

The award for overall best student went to Capt. Olumese Efeovbokhan, who also carted the awards for Military and Information Proficiency, Tactics Proficiency and the Commandants Paper Award.
