Man arraigned for stealing employer’s 8,800 euros

The police in Lagos on Thursday arraigned a 42-year-old employee, Kinksley Ikechukwu, for allegedly stealing his employer’s 8,800 euros (N1.8 million).

Ikechukwu is standing trial before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos on a one-count charge of theft.

The prosecutor, Insp. Aderemi Olajuwon, told the court that the accused, an employee of Dabkon Bureau-de-Change, committed the alleged offence on Nov. 30, at a branch of Finbank on Victoria Island.

He said luck ran out on the accused when he was later arrested at his hide-out, after a tip-off.

Olajuwon said that the offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The Magistrate, F.A. Balogun, adjourned the case till Jan. 25, 2011 for further hearing.
