The police on Tuesday in Lagos arraigned a medical doctor, Uchenna Akunonu, for allegedly stealing a scanning machine worth N890,000, belonging to his employer.
Akunonu, 33, is facing a one-count charge of stealing before a Surulere Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Raji Raji told the court that the machine belonged to the proprietor of Abase Hospital, Uyi Usoro.
Raji said that the offence was committed on Dec. 11 at No. 1 Akinsulire St., Surulere, Lagos.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate, A. O. Gbajumo granted him bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till Jan. 17 for mention.
