NDLEA nabs suspect with 17 kg of cannabis at Lagos airport

The NDLEA has arrested a suspected drug trafficker with of 17kg of cannabis at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The NDLEA spokesman, Mitchell Ofoyeju, said that the suspect was arrested while attempting to board an Ethiopian airline flight to China.

He was detected at the baggage checking desk with 20 large parcels of dried weeds that tested positive to cannabis in his bag.

The drug was arranged under the bag while few top cylinder gaskets were on top as a ruse, Ofoyeju said

The NDLEA said that the seizure was yet another intervention by the anti-drug agency to protect citizens in view of the capital penalty for drug culprits in China.

Responding to the arrest, the Chairman of NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, promised to tighten the noose on drug traffickers by intensifying undercover and search operations.

A statement issued by the NDLEA quoted Giade as saying that the agency will never get tired of discharging its functions.
