The Nigerian Army has began a five-day workshop for commanding officers as part of efforts to professionalise the force.
The theme of the workshop holding in Lagos is Enhancing the Capacity of Commanding Officers Necessity for Nigerian Army Transformation.
It is meant to consolidate the drive for professionalism in the army.
General Officer Commanding , 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Eugene Nwanguma, said at the workshop that training COs was akin to training more than a battalion of soldiers.
He said the workshop, the second to be held, was in line with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff toward improving the productivity and professionalism in the army.
The GOC was represented by the Commanding Officer, 45 Div. Engineering, Brig.-Gen. Osamudiamen Osenmota.
more than 40 COs from army formations in the southern states are attending the workshop.
Senior military officers are expected to present papers at the workshop.
