The police in Lagos has arraigned four members of a syndicate for allegedly attempting to dupe a winner of Star lager beer promotion of N100,000
The four, Ezeoku Stephen, 21, Vincent Nqwanze, 26, Sodiende Tope, 26, and Nsien Armstrong, 29, are standing trial before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.
They are charged with conspiracy, impersonation, forgery and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Sam Omoyeni, told the court that the accused impersonated staff members of Nigeria Breweries Plc and deceived a winner of the promo to hand over his winning cork for redemption.
Omoyeni said Ezeoku falsely represented himself as one Onyiba Ifesinachi Stephen and tricked Paul Ologbo, a winner of the Star Consumer Promo.
The prosecutor explained that the crown cork was valued at N100,000.
The accused pleaded not guilty and were each granted bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum.
The Magistrate, M.O. Olubi, adjourned the case till Aug. 18 for further hearing.
