Court acquits salesman over theft.

A twenty-one-year-old salesman, who has been in prison custody for failing to meet his bail conditions, has been discharged and acquitted by an Apapa Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos.

The accused, Noah Oladunjoye, who was arraigned on June sixteen, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of allegedly stealing fifty-two thousand one hundred naira cash, property of his employer,Adekunle Adelojo, a soft drink dealer.

Chief Magistrate,Oluyemi Adelaja, had ordered the police to produce the accused in court since he was unable to meet the bail conditions because he did not have a lawyer.

At the resumed hearing of the case, Adelaja struck out the case for lack of diligent prosecution, noting that both the complainant and the witness had not appear in court since the accused was arraigned.

Prosecutor,Corporal Joseph Umeh, had earlier told the court that the accused stole Adelojo’s money.

In an interview with security alert with jide after he regained his freedom, Oladunjoye said the money was stolen from him by a pick-pocket.
