NDLEA arrests more than two thousand drug traffickers in five months.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested two thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight suspected drug traffickers between January and May this year.

The suspects included two thousand seven hundred eighty males and one hundred and three females.

A total of seventy-seven thousand seven hundred and ninety-six point one two kilograms of narcotic drugs were seized from the suspects.

Cannabis—popularly called Indian hemp—formed the biggest chunk at seventy-seven thousand two hundred sixty-seven point zero four kilograms.

Psychotropic substances accounted for four hundred and nineteen point five nine kilograms of the seizures, while cocaine and heroin of eighty-two point two eight one kilograms and twenty-seven point two one kilograms, made up the balance.

Also Six hundred and seventy-four offenders were convicted by the law courts within the period.

Its chairman,Ahmadu Giade who made this known said the agency would continue to collaborate with stakeholders in the war against narcotics.

He urged members of the public to actively participate in the campaign against narcotics and save the youth from drug abuse and trafficking.
