Court dissolves marriages over battery, drunkenness.

A Grade A Customary Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State has dissolved a sixteen-year-old marriage over the battery of the woman.

Court President, Remi Adesanya, dissolved the union of Samson Bazuaye and Mobola Bazuaye, following a petition by the latter.

Adesanya held that both parties consented to the dissolution of the relationship.

She ordered Samson to pay Mobola nine thousand naira monthly for the children’s upkeep.

Also, the court dissolved the twelve-year-old marriage between Joseph Solomon and Mrs Risikatu Solomon because the former was always drunk.

Court President, Remi Adesanya, said efforts to save the marriage had failed.

She gave the custody of the first two children of the marriage to the man and directed him to pay Risikatu seven thousand five hundred naira monthly for the upkeep of the other three children who should be with their mother.

The petitioner, Risikatu, had told the court that Joseph regularly got drunk and beat her each time he was in that state.

She submitted that Solomon was not taking care of the five children aged eleven, eight, five, three and one.

Responding, Joseph prayed the court to grant him the custody of their first two children.
