Cleric docked for duping congregation fifty-seven million naira.

A catholic cleric, Reverend Father, Felix Afolayan has been arraigned for allegedly defrauding one hundred and ten church members of fifty-seven million naira on the pretence of assisting them procure Canadian visas.

Afolayan,is standing trial before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on a three-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and stealing.

The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police, E.J. Nkankuk,said the accused with others at large between the months of April and December last year committed the offence.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

Magistrate,W.B. Balogun granted the cleric bail in the sum of two million naira with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case till July two for further hearing.
