A cart pusher, Ismaila Jafaru, who allegedly impersonated a police officer, has been brought before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.
The prosecution had alleged that the accused impersonated a Chief Superintendent of Police in a bid to secure the release a colleague in police custody.
Jafaru who is facing a two-count charge of impersonation and unlawful possession of police identity card, however, pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor, Raymond Odion, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April thirteen at the premises of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad at Adeniji Adele, Lagos.
Magistrate, Makanju Oshodi, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of one hundred thousand naira with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till July twelve for further hearing.
