The police in Lagos have begun investigation into the death of a Julius Berger senior driver, who was allegedly pushed from a flyover, by a policeman.
The deceased, simply identified as Baba Ahmed, was said to have been pushed down from the Orile/Iganmu interchange flyover during an argument with the policeman.
Witnesses said the driver died instantly.
Assistant Commissioner of Police,Bashir Abdullahi said in Lagos that the police would thoroughly investigate the alleged incident.
Abdullahi, the Commander, Area C Police Command, Lagos, said the police were embarrassed by the report.
He said at the moment, the police had yet to know the truth of the story and which of its personnel was allegedly involved.
Policemen from the Area C had to keep security at the place to avoid a break down of law and order.
Meanwhile, the police arrested two young men, who allegedly attempted to pick the pockets of some people at the scene of the incident.
The suspects were detained at the Iponri Police Station.
A journalist with the Vanguard newspaper said that he narrowly escaped losing his camera and GSM phones to the suspected thieves.
The management of Julius Berger declined comment on the death of the driver, as it claimed it was unaware of the incident.
The company’s Public Relation Officer, who refused to disclose her name, claimed that she only heard of the incident from journalists.
