A thirty-three-year-old badminton coach, Edu Olukayode and a woman have been arraigned for allegedly forging the signature of an official of the National Sports Commission.
The prosecution said the accused forged the official’s signature to procure Indian visas.
Olukayode and Ogunsheye Shakirat are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy and forgery at an Igbosere Senior Magistrate’s Court.
Sergent, Isiaka Babarinsa told the court that the accused persons with others now at large had on February twenty forged an invitation letter dated February fifteen purported to have been issued by the Judo Federation of India.
Similarly, they were also alleged to have forged a letter in the name of the Nigeria Judo Federation on the same date to get the visas.
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and were granted bail in the sum of fifty thousand naira and one surety each.
Senior Magistrate,Folake Davies-Abegunde adjourned the case till July eight for further hearing.
