A suspected car snatcher and seven others have been arraigned before an Apapa Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos.
The accused person Chukwuka Collins who claimed to be a businessman, allegedly stole fifteen cars in different parts of the state, valued at seven point five million naira.
The seven others, who were charged for receiving the stolen vehicles are Saheed Modasho, Moshood Adekunle, Saheed Lasisi and Ndubuisi Okafor.
The others are Arinze Madukegbu, Robinson Oghenejuwerhe and Matthew Jimoh.
Prosecutor, Sergent Benedict Unawunwa, told the court that the accused and others still at large committed the office between December last year and March this year.
He said the stolen cars included Mercedes Benz, Jetta Volkwagen and Audi eighty.
The eight accused pleaded not guilty.
Counsel to the accused, Nelson Onyejaka, Olufela Olubi and P. Osajiede, urged the court to grant them bail on liberal terms, saying the offence was bailable.
But the prosecutor objected to the request on the grounds that the accused might jump bail.
Magistrate, Oluyemisi Adelaja, however, granted them bail and adjourned the case till July five for further hearing.
