The police in Lagos has arrested a twenty-seven-year-old robbery suspect, who along with his gang members, attempted to rob a woman of her Toyota car.
The suspect, also believed to be a cultist, was paraded before newsmen in Ikeja, with bullet-ridden legs.
Police Public Relations Officer,Frank Mba said the suspect and others at large, using two motorcycles attempted to rob a woman of her car at the Leventis Bus-stop on Bank Anthony Way, Maryland, Lagos.
Mba said as soon as the suspects sighted a police patrol team, they attempted to escape while one of them opened fire on the police but the police responded and one of the suspects was badly injured on his legs, while the others escaped.
The police spokesman said the items recovered from the suspect included one motorcycle with one locally made shot gun and twelve live cartridges.
According to him, the case would be transferred to the State CID, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing gang members.
He advised members of the public, intending to cash money at banks, to be discreet.
