The Lagos State Internal Revenue Services has sealed off four hundred and twenty companies between August last year and May this year over tax evasion.
Its Assistant Legal Adviser, Afolashade Afolayan said forty of the companies were still locked.
Afolayan said the state had recorded high level of tax compliance from companies and most of them had remitted their outstanding taxes to the state government’s coffers.
She said government had also resolved, out of court, many cases of tax evasion and non-remittance and some defaulters were already being prosecuted.
The Legal Adviser said another set of defaulters were facing prosecution for allegedly breaking government seals placed on their business premises.
