The Police Command in Lagos State has dismissed a police constable, Mohammed Abubakar, for allegedly killing a security man attached to the Ifako-Gbagada, Lagos, branch of Intercontinental Bank Plc.
The dismissal followed a directive from the Police Commissioner, Marvel Akpoyibo after he was found guilty in an orderly room trial instituted by the Commissioner.
The suspect is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, and will soon be charged to court for murder.
Police Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba said the dismissed policeman was posted to the branch on May second the day of the incident.
Security Alert with Jide gathered that the remains of the deceased late Attah Jacob were deposited at the mortuary of Isolo General Hospital on the advice of the bank authorities.
The corpse was later taken to Ikeja General Hospital mortuary by the bank and family members when they discovered that the corpse was decomposing.
Media Relations Officer of Intercontinental Bank, Oluwaseun Adesida, confirmed the incident but said the deceased was not an employee of the bank.
Adesida, however, said the bank was doing something to help the family with the burial. However, two family members of the deceased, Messrs Scotty Uso and Ini Udoh, said the bank had yet to fulfill its promise one month after their breadwinner was killed on duty.
Jacob was employed by Integrated Corporate Services, a security outfit in Ilupeju, Lagos.
Spokesman for the security outfit, Wole Faweye confirmed that Jacob was an employee of the company who started work in April.
He said the company was working out some form of compensation for the family, including settlement of his entitlements, although the company's officials had yet to meet with the family.
