The police in Lagos has arraigned a forty-five-year-old woman for allegedly failing to produce a fraud suspect for whom she signed a two hundred thousand naira bail bond.
Benedicta Akpabonwa was brought before a Surulere Chief Magistrate’s Court on a one-count charge of breaching an agreement.
She, however, pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor, Inspector Olaide Sunday, told the court that Akpabonwa on December last year guaranteed to produce one Fidelia Chidiebere involved in a case of fraud.
He said Akpabonwa pledged to produce the suspect whenever she was needed by the police.
Chief Magistrate Abiola Soladoye granted Akpabonwa bail in the sum of one hundred thousand naira with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till July seven for further hearing.
