A man, who allegedly impersonated a clearing agent, has granted bail by an Apapa Senior Magistrate’s Court, Lagos.
The accused, Nurudeen Mudasiru is facing trial on a two-count charge of stealing and receiving money under false pretext.
Senior Magistrate,Ariyike Ipaye-Nwachukwu granted the accused bail in the sum of five hundred thousand naira with two sureties after he had pleaded not guilty.
Counsel to the accused,Sammy Ekatah, had urged the court to grant the accused bail, promising that he would not jump bail.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sergent Uche Kalu, told the court that the accused had sometime in March at Ajegunle, a Lagos suburb, obtained six hundred and sixty thousand naira from Charity Ogbotiti.
He said the accused obtained the money with a promise to help her to clear a Passat saloon car at the Tin Can Port, Lagos, but converted the money to his personal use.
The case has been adjourned till August thirtieth.
