A Federal High Court in Lagos has remanded an alleged drug trafficker, Eme Ayotor, in prison custody pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions.
Ayotor was arraigned by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on a three-count charge for allegedly exporting two point twelve kilogram of cocaine.
The Agency said the accused was caught during the outward clearance a Lufthansa Airline flight to Frankfurt at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Ikeja.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
His counsel, Benson Ndakara urged the court to grant his client bail on the ground that the offence was bailable and that the accused was innocent until found guilty.
Counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,Abu Ibrahiim, urged the court to refuse the bail application on the ground that the accused was an influential person in Edo who might tamper with justice if released on bail.
Justice Mohammed Liman, however, granted the accused bail in the sum of one million naira and a surety in like sum.
The judge adjourned the case till July twenty-one for trial.
