The clampdown on Automated Teller Machine fraudsters by the police has paid off as a twenty-year-old suspect has been charged before a Surulere Chief Magistrate’s Court.
Sunday Peter, who is standing trial on a two-count charge of stealing and felony, has, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution said the accused stole an Oceanic Bank ATM card and twenty-seven thousand naira cash from Esomojumi Oluwole on Ojuelegba Road, Surulere, Lagos.
Inspector Olaide Sunday told the court that the accused, who committed the offence on June four was arrested while trying to use the card to withdraw money from Oluwole’s account.
Chief Magistrate,Abiola Soladoye, granted the accused bail in the sum of twenty-seven thousand naira with two sureties and adjourned the case till July seven for further hearing.
