For failing to produce an accused person in court, a thirty-year old businessman, Idris Haruna, has been charged before an Igbosere Chief Magistrate’s Court.
The surety-turned accused is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and failing to produce one Fasal Haruna, a person he stood surety for.
Prosecutor,Sergent Austin Adams, arraigned Idris for the offence originally committed by Fasal.
He said Fasal, Idris’s brother, obtained the goods under false pretence.
Adams said the accused stood surety for the first accused with the intention to make him escape justice.
He said the offence contravened the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of fifty thousand naira with two sureties in like sum.
Magistrate,Makanju Oshodi, adjourned the case to August nine for further hearing.
