Three persons were on Thursday arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a tricycle (Keke NAPEP), valued at N330,000.
The accused persons, Chinonzo Nneji, (24), Ismaila Olaide (32) and Ikechukwu Ezeh (25) are standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Austin Adams, told the court that the accused had sometime in November at about 5 a.m. at Abraham Adesanya Housing Estate, Ajiwe, Lagos stole the tricycle.
He said the tricycle belonged to one Uloma Nzeh.
The accused while in the dock kept shouting at one another as to who was actually stole the tricycle.
Adams said that the accused actually belonged to a syndicate that specialised in stealing tricycles and motorcycles.
He said the offence contravened Sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2003.
The trio pleaded not guilty to the charges and were each granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Magistrate Makanju Oshodi adjourned the case till Jan. 10, 2011 for further hearing.
