Bomb blasts: More police units deployed to Jos.
Four units of Mobile Police have been deployed to Jos to prevent the tensed situation in the city from deteriorating.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Operation, Force Headquarters, Abuja, Audu Abubakar made this known while speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Jos.
Tension has remained high in the city following bomb blasts that rocked Kabong and Angwan Rukuba villages in Jos North Local Government area of Plateau State on Saturday.
Abubakar said There is so much tension around the city as a result of the Christmas eve bomb blasts in three different locations which killed scores of people and wounded many.
He said the units were drafted from Bauchi, Gombe, Benue and Kano states to strengthen the existing forces on ground in the city.
Abubakar said This is being done to forestall the breakdown of law and order and to ensure that peace and tranquility return to Jos.
The DIG said he was directed by the IGP to visit the sites of the explosions, assess the situation and visit those receiving treatment in various hospitals.
Abubakar said he had met with Gov. Jonah Jang, the Gbong Gwom Jos Gyang Buba, and others and that the meeting was fruitful.
He said he was happy with the support the police was receiving from the Military in its bid to maintain peace and prevent the situation from escalating.
Meanwhile Road blocks have resurfaced in Jos metropolis following the Christmas Eve bomb blasts that rocked some parts of the city.
Following the blasts on December twenty-four, there had been an uneasy calm in the entire city, heightening tension.
A new dimension was introduced as metal detectors were used in searching motorcyclists and vehicles.
The stern-looking security personnel conducted searches on vehicles and those suspected to be carrying offencive weapons were thoroughly grilled.
Before the emergence of the roadblocks, only motorists travelling late in the night were subjected to thorough search.
