A man, Samuel Falamora, who claimed to be an employee of the Lagos State Land Bureau Office, was on Tuesday charged with forgery before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates Court in Lagos.
Falamora, 40, is standing trial before Chief Magistrate Oyindamola Ogala, on charges of conspiracy, fraud, impersonation and issuance of forged documents.
The prosecutor, Cyril Ajilor, told the court that the accused obtained N720,000 from one Mr Emmanuel Nwiwu, under the pretext of helping him to procure a Certificate-of-Occupancy (C-of-O) .
The prosecutor said the offence was committed in 2007 at No. 40 Abudu St., Ogudu, Lagos.
He said the offence contravened Sections 390, 419, 484 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos.
The accused, who pleaded not guilty, was granted bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till Jan. 19, 2011 for further hearing.
